Western Australia Blue Card Changes to White Card
Monday, 31 August 2009
As of the 1st of September, 2009 the 51466 Course in Safety Awareness Training (WA Blue Card) will be replaced with the CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the Construction Industry (WA White Card) course.
A few things you should know about the course change:
- You can do the White Card course online with Blue Dog Training here.
- The WA White Card will be accepted in all States and Territories, including New South Wales.
- People who have a current WA Blue Card will not need to update to the WA White Card, as the WA Blue Card is also nationally recognised.
- WA Blue Cards will still be issued after the 1st of September, 2009 until Government supplies run out.
- An employer may deem it necessary for a worker to repeat their training, and update their Blue Card to a White Card.
- It is recommended that anybody that has taken an extended break from working in the construction industry repeats their White Card Course.
The benefits of resitting the course include:
- Renewed knowledge of safety procedures
- Updated knowledge of legislative requirements, managing risks, and staying safe on a worksite
- You will receive the WA White Card, which will help you gain employment in the construction industry
- Your updated knowledge will help to keep yourself and your workmates safer on a jobsite
Blue Dog Training will continue to offer the WA White Card course online, as well as the QLD White Card and a growing number of Short Courses.
